Sterling Hill Norwegian Elkhounds, located in Muskego, Wisconsin, is the home of a small private kennel dedicated to preserving and promoting the Norwegian Elkhound in all of its natural splendor. Founded in 1986, Sterling Hill is the dream and passion of Ted and Shelley Brown. The Elkies who live at Sterling Hill are happy, healthy, and deeply loved. Our puppies are cuddled and played with, and our elders are afforded the highest esteem. Our foundation bitch, Ch. Windy Cove Joyful Jada, was purchased as a puppy from Marie Peterson of Windy Cove Kennel in California. Through careful selection and advice by working closely with friend and mentor Gayle Thomas of Thom Thom Farms in Madison, Wisconsin, Shelley's lifelong dream, inspired by love and dedication to the Norwegian Elkhound, was accomplished. Our Memoriam Page introduces some of the first show champions who were handled and loved by Shelley. Unfortunately for the breeding program, personal reasons caused Sterling Hill to become inactive for several years. In 2001, Ted and Shelley recommitted to the mission of Sterling Hill, that being to honor and promote the Norwegian Elkhound, keeping safe always the dignity of this proud and beautiful breed. Today Ted and Shelley are actively showing their "New Generation" of Elkies. Be sure to check out Venner and Velvet in the "Our Clan" section. While there, you may notice some interesting clan members who are decidedly not Elkhounds in body. These are the freeloaders of the family, equally loved, and in training to become all that is the Elkhound Spirit. Ted and Shelley thank you for visiting our website! Be sure to sign our guestbook before you go, and wish us luck at the Dog Shows!
